A mysterious fire on 02 June 2021, devastated the Irawian Navy’s largest warship, which later sank in the Gulf of Oman. The ship sank near the Iranian port of Jask, some 1270 kilometres south-east of Tehran on the gulf of Oman, near the Strait of Hormuz, the narrow mouth of the Persian Gulf. Satellite photos from Planet Labs, analysed by Associated Press, showed the warship “Kharg”, off Jask, with no sign of fire as late as 11 am on 01 June 2021. Iranian officials maintained that an investigation had began. In parallel to the maritime disastu, a massive fire broke out on 02 June 2021 at Tondgooyan Petrochemical Company, the oil refinery which serves Tehran. It was not immediately clear if three were injuries, or what caused the blaze. Temperatures in Tehran had reached 40 degrees Celsius. Hot summers in Iran have caused fires in the past.

The “born free” generation that never experienced apartheid, is confronting an unemployment rate of 74.7 percent. South Africa is at the top for highest number of unemployed youth, aged between 15 and 24 years. Africa’s most industrial economy has long suffered from high levels of unemployment, trapping millions in poverty, and contributing to inequalities, that persist nearly three decades of white rule in 1994.
